Read ArticleFrom Data to Decisions: Build Crisis Simulations That Reflect Your Reality
Your organisation already holds valuable resilience information: processes, dependencies, response and recovery plans, risks, controls, contacts, suppliers, incidents and actions. Yet too often, crisis exercises are built manually, based on generic scenarios, and disconnected from the operational reality teams need to test. Join Craig Goldberg, CEO & Founder of Battleground, and Eli Goldberg, Head of Battleground UK & EMEA, for a practical webinar on using your existing operational data to design and run more relevant, interactive crisis simulations. Battleground will demonstrate how Battleground Live turns connected resilience data into an immersive exercise environment. See first-hand how teams can build scenario timelines, introduce realistic injects, test decision-making as events escalate, and capture actions, observations and improvement opportunities in real time. Rather than running a one-off tabletop exercise that ends in a static report, organisations can create a repeatable process for scenario planning, exercising and continuous improvement. Teams can test how a disruption affects their own operations, dependencies, people, technology, suppliers and customer commitments, with a clear connection back to the plans, controls and accountable owners that matter. What you’ll take away A practical approach to using existing resilience and operational data to build realistic crisis scenarios. How to create an interactive, time-based exercise timeline that reflects how an incident may develop. Ways to introduce relevant injects, decision points and escalating impacts to test teams under pressure. How to connect scenarios to your organisation’s operations, dependencies, suppliers, risks, plans and controls. A more immersive way to test whether response arrangements work in practice, not just on paper. How to capture decisions, actions, lessons and gaps during an exercise, creating an evidence-led record of performance. A repeatable process for scenario planning and simulation that supports continuous resilience improvement. Practical ideas for using exercise outcomes to prioritise investment, strengthen readiness and inform executive reporting. Why it matters A meaningful exercise should do more than confirm that a plan exists. It should help people understand what they need to do, identify where dependencies may fail and reveal the decisions that will be required when time, information and resources are limited. By building simulations from the information already held in Battleground Live, organisations can move away from generic, disconnected exercises and towards scenarios that are specific to their own operating environment. The outcome is a more credible test of readiness, clearer evidence of where improvements are needed and a stronger basis for action after the exercise.

Join your community at BCI World Hybrid, 10th–11th November 2026. London UK (Convene Sancroft, St. Paul's) and Virtual. Headline Sponsor: Conducttr. ## About the Conference A different kind of gathering. BCI World Hybrid 2026 is not a traditional conference. It’s a space for the resilience community to come together, share experience, and move the profession forward, together. This year marks a shift. Instead of a fixed agenda and passive sessions, we’ve designed a more flexible, human experience. You won’t simply attend – you’ll choose how you take part, what you focus on, and what you take away. ## This year’s theme: Returns on Resilience Resilience is often seen as something organizations must do – a cost, a requirement, a safeguard. We believe it’s much more than that. Resilience creates value. It protects revenue, strengthens reputation, builds trust, and supports better decisions in uncertain times. At BCI World Hybrid 2026, we explore a simple but important question: What does resilience give back? Across the conference, you’ll hear real examples, practical experiences, and honest discussions about how resilience contributes to organizational success, not as theory, but in practice. Whether you’re trying to strengthen your own programme or explain its value to others, this is where you’ll find the language, evidence, and confidence to do it. ## Designed for how people learn We have moved away from a traditional “sit and listen” format. Instead, BCI World Hybrid 2026 is built as a menu of experiences, so you can shape your day around what matters most to you. You might: - Join a discussion with peers facing the same challenges - Take part in a live exercise and test your thinking - Learn directly from real-world case studies - Spend time exploring ideas in smaller, focused sessions Every part of the event is designed with one principle in mind: You should leave with something useful, something you can apply straight away. ## A global community, in one place Whether you join us in person or online, you are part of the same conversation. BCI World Hybrid brings together professionals from across industries, regions, and levels of experience. It’s a chance to: - Learn from others - Share your own perspective - Build connections that last beyond the event You don’t need to be a long-standing member to take part. If you care about resilience and want to improve how it is understood and delivered, you are welcome here.

Read ArticleValidation: PP6 Using Exercises Across Every Stage of the BCMS Lifecycle
More than two years after the BCI GPG 7.0 arrived, students worldwide are still studying it—and some are even enjoying the experience! Is there a secret to getting the best out of the GPG? Possibly.... But in reality, and with expert guidance, it needs the student to apply themselves to understand just what the GPG is trying to do and how best to implement a robust, pragmatic and resilient BCMS. Of course, all LTPs work hard to bring the GPG to life and to help students by sharing real life expertise and knowledge to really start the discussion about what makes a resilient organisation. Having spent decades training many of today’s professionals and, hopefully, quite a few of tomorrow’s leaders in the art and science of BC and resilience, we are often asked just where to start in what, to people new to BC, can be a daunting and often scary process. We are going to stand on a ‘soap-box’ and tell you a secret: Validation! Why validation? Because validating what you already have in place; where the gaps are; what you might need in your policy and scope; how well, (or not), you have embraced BC into your organisation; what solutions you may already have in place; and where there may be opportunities for new solutions is what BCM is all about. In short, Validation can help to tell you and your organisation’s management to understand where you are; where you might need to go; how well prepared you are; and be an opportunity to enhance your training and awareness at the same time. If it could brew tea as well, it would be perfect….!

Read ArticleBCI Cyber Resilience SIG Webinar: Cyber Resilience in the Transportation Sector
A summary of the BCI white paper on securing Europe's railways, airports, ports and roads against a rising, geopolitically charged cyber threat. The backbone of the economy — now a hybrid battlefield: railways, airports, ports and road networks are no longer just physical assets — they are deeply interconnected digital ecosystems moving millions of people and billions of euros every day. IoT, AI, cloud and IT/OT convergence have transformed the sector's risk profile, making it a prime target for organised cybercrime and hostile state actors. Four major attack patterns dominate the sector: ransomware, DDoS & hacktivism, supply chain, and phishing & spoofing. A single breach can lead to multiple downstream failures. If corporate IT systems—such as email, identity, and network infrastructure—are compromised, it can severely impact operational technology (OT) systems that were never directly breached. This is because both environments share authentication and communication layers. If these internal interdependencies are overlooked, recovery efforts can be significantly delayed.

## Conference information Operational Resilience in Practice – From Strategy to Execution. Organizations are increasingly navigating a complex and interconnected risk landscape. Challenges such as cyber incidents, supply-chain disruptions, geopolitical uncertainty, technology dependencies, workforce availability, and rising regulatory demands require a shift beyond traditional Business Continuity Management. It’s no longer sufficient to merely have a Business Continuity Plan; the focus must shift to the organization's genuine ability to maintain critical services during disruptions. The BCI Netherlands Chapter Conference 2026, scheduled for 25 November 2026 at VGZ Headquarters in Arnhem, aims to unite professionals in Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Operational Resilience, Security, and related fields under the theme: “Weerbaarheid in de praktijk – Van strategie naar uitvoering.” This conference emphasizes the practical application of resilience. Through keynote presentations, practitioner experiences, interactive sessions, and specialized tracks, participants will learn how to effectively translate resilience ambitions, frameworks, and regulatory requirements into real-world capabilities. Key topics will include workforce resilience, third-party dependencies, IT and disaster recovery, insider risk management, crisis leadership, technology, Business Continuity Planning, and the evolution from BCM to Operational Resilience. An interactive workshop will challenge attendees to reflect on the characteristics of an effective BCP, while discussions will explore broader questions around measuring resilience and the competencies needed for future resilience professionals. Participants will leave with practical insights, lessons learned, and actionable ideas to apply within their organizations. The conference will facilitate exchange among peers facing similar challenges. With an expected attendance of 60-80 participants, the event is designed to foster interaction rather than just offer presentations. Networking opportunities, including lunch and a walking dinner, will allow attendees to connect with fellow professionals, speakers, and BCI Netherlands Chapter members. ## Venue VGZ 12 Nieuwe Stationsstraat, 6811 KS Arnhem
